Happy New Year

Gary's watching reruns on TV, or they say they're reruns, he hasn't seen them. I took the tree down today, after only having it up just a few days while BUG was here. It was kind of a sad time, all the pretty lights, bulbs and ropes stripped from the tree leaving it standing naked and knowing sooner or later in the box it goes for another year. You know if I was a Christmas tree, I'd be screaming to be let out of the box about the end of January, or for sure by Valentine's Day. :-D

Imagine what those REAL trees feel. Removed from their humble standing places, loaded into/onto someone's car and then dragged into all kinds of strange places, poked into a tree stand and then strange people start hanging all kinds of strange looking stuff on them. If that isn't enough, they start putting wrapped up boxes of stuff under their branches, with big ribbons and bows attached. to top it off they shove the trees top branch up an Angels ass. Now where's the SPIRIT in all of that? *chuckles*

So far we've had a pretty quiet New Years Eve, haven't heard too many firecrackers popping and it's my hope no one gets hurt by or with them. Seriously I think the 4th of July is the only time that aerial fireworks should be allowed, certainly not on New Years Eve, but then that's my opinion and y'all know what they say about opinions. :)

In a few hours the New Year will be here and along with it my birthday. Yippee!!!

I'm looking forward to 2009... hope y'all are too.

Words

Gary and I have been together too long. No really... we finish each others sentences just about all the time. Seldom do I finish an actual sentence without him saying something like... "yeah babe, I know... blah, blah, blah", and then I'll do the same to him when he's talking. Maybe it's inconsiderate, maybe it's just that we are so close we actually get IT, whatever "IT" is.

The thing I've noticed over the last few months though is how he and I move around the house (when we're home) grunting those one word questions... "coffee?", "breakfast?", "toast?", "eggs?", "milk?", "more?", "sugar?", "salt?", "hungry?", "thirsty?", "cold?", "hot?", and a few gazillion other one words? Any of y'all do that? *laughs*

So I'm sitting in front of the computer, Gary's in the kitchen and our conversation goes something like this...

GARY: Babe?
Me: yeah?
GARY: coffee?
Me: no
GARY: water?
Me: no
GARY: Soda?
Me: no
GARY: Ice cream?
Me: no
GARY: sandwich?
Me: no
GARY: sex?
Me: no... (short pause) what did you say?
GARY: Cookies?
Me: Oh I thought you said sex
GARY: (laughing) must have been hearing things
Me: yeah
GARY: you eat?
Me: no
GARY: hungry?
Me: no
GARY: busy?
Me: no
GARY: OK
Me: ok
GARY: love you
Me: ditto

See what I mean, we say a lot... without saying a lot of words. (laughing hysterically)
